#2-2010 PRIMARY CANVASS
Clerk Lisa Lloyd reported that for the most part things went very well. Things ran so smoothly that this is the first year that she hasn’t had to actually travel to a polling place to repair things. All polls were open on time and the total voter turnout was 51.63%. That night during tally, all results had been read into the computer and totals were handed out to the crowd present during counting by 9:00. Shortly after that, it was discovered that a computer error had occurred and Rachel’s votes hadn’t been distributed to the candidates. After re-burning the cartridge, the Rachel ballots were fed through the Insight again, read into the computer, and the error was fixed. Lincoln County was the last to report, but Lisa advised it is far more important to ensure accuracy than to be the first to turn results in. All in all, Lisa felt that this is the very best Election Day we’ve had to date. Tommy made a motion to approve the 2010 Primary Canvass; seconded by Ronda. All voted in favor.
#3-PUBLIC COMMENT
Paul called for public comment. Denice Brown sent an email to the Board members about the $500 that NACO is giving for one person from each county. The NACO board’s intent was to provide a stipend for one person to attend in order to encourage overall attendance at the national conference. Denice has informed NACO that at least one LC member will attend. State NACO will have their board meeting during the national conference so Tommy will attend. Ronda advised that late Thursday night Congressman Heller and Senator Reid introduced the solar legislation. It’s open for public discussion but Ronda doesn’t know how long it will take. Senator Ensign isn’t opposed to it, but hasn’t signed onto it either. Senator Ensign feels it should go through a thorough review with Nellis prior to passing.
#4-ADJOURN
There being no further business for the Board to attend to, Ronda made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:24 a.m.; seconded by Ed. All voted in favor.
