There is a quorum and the agenda was posted on 1-12-10 to comply with the open meeting law. Fire Chief Rick Stever is present.

Ronda made a motion to approve the December 21, 2010 minutes; seconded by Ed. All voted in favor.

Rick advised he continues to work on the water tank at Mt. Wilson; several issues have cropped up that will increase the cost of the tank placement. NV Fire Safe Council doesn’t have a great deal of money, so Rick approached the Road Department to get this tank in place. The work will be done in the spring. NVFSC asked Rick to present estimates and they have about $3-4,000 to set the tank. The bids ranged from $2,500 to $10,000. The RD will dig the hole and haul in sand, but a contractor will seat the tank. No determination has been made as to what will be involved, including how many hours this will take. Material may have to be hauled in order to cover the tank.

There is a voucher for reimbursement to Panaca Fire District. Ronda questioned this as she was under the impression that two year agreements were in place. Rick has worked on the mutual aid agreement that will possibly be signed by two departments tomorrow. To date, this agreement has been verbal. Previously, Pioche Fire District withdrew a bill for fire suppression. Ronda made a motion to approve the vouchers, including payment to Panaca Fire District; seconded by Tommy. All voted in favor.

Rick still doesn’t have an estimate from the paint shop in Ely. No action is taken.

Nevada Fire Safe Council statewide Fire Awareness Week will take place May 1-8, 2010. Local fire departments will be participating in cleanup and educating the public. This is private property clean up; the people are expected to clean their own property and a crew will come in to chip materials. It is possible the dates for this education week might be postponed based on weather. More information will become available as the event gets closer. Rick will work with property owners and other fire districts to complete cleanup projects.

Paul called for public comment. There is none.

There being no further business for the Board to attend to, Ronda made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:12; seconded by Ed. All voted in favor.
