#4-FIRE CHIEF UPDATE

Rick reported that there have been a few more wildfires in the county since the last meeting. Rick spent some time working on the Boyd Fire; BLM requested the assistance. There were several fires on Caliente Summit that didn’t go very far thanks to the rain.

#5-VOUCHERS

Kevin made a motion to approve the vouchers; seconded by Ed. All voted in favor.

#6-STRUCTURE ENGINE

After attending several training programs and visiting with fire personnel throughout the state, with the building going on in Eagle Valley and several remote areas in the county, Rick feels a structure engine is necessary. The county accepts taxes from these people and Rick believes the county should provide the necessary equipment to provide protection to these people. The largest need includes hoses. Rick is considering several different options that would reduce the price of a structure engine. The equipment would be used, and they vary in price. Rick doesn’t want to get an old one as there is no maintenance staff. Rick is considering a refurbished engine. A street engine is more what Rick is looking at. This equipment will not be used for wildland fires. Rick advised that the equipment we have now is located in Pioche Fire Station. Rick will approach Pioche and Panaca to see if they have personnel to help run this equipment. Rick will create a list of who he can call for support when using the engine. Currently, Pioche provides manpower to help with the fires. The engine will be housed at Eagle Valley the majority of the time. Housing this engine in Pioche means that the water tender will have to be put outside. Funding will come from tax revenues; the money is available. Paul D. made a motion to approve the purchase of a structure engine, not to exceed $150,000; seconded by Kevin. All voted in favor.

#7-PUBLIC COMMENT
