#4-FIRE CHIEF UPDATE

Rick Stever reported that the first part of October he, Larry Stever, and Chuck Reifsnyder went to Reno and met with the NV Firesafe Council concerning our fire situation. In 2005 the state had a contractor review the counties for potential wildfire; all of northern LC was assessed as extreme fire danger. Since that time, BLM has done several fuel reduction projects. At the meeting in Reno, it was decided that LC needed a new assessment. The plan will be updated and submitted by next spring. Each fire district will assess their district. Rick has been working to make contacts to assess LC Fire District. Rick sent out about 400 letters/mailers asking residents what they feel the priorities are for their areas. Rick has received one call from Rachel and one returned as undeliverable. Once input is received, another meeting will be held to compile the information from the different fire districts to determine what people want with regards to assistance. If Rick doesn’t receive suggestions he will have to assume there isn’t any work to be done. Rick received payment from BLM in the amount of $5,850 for use of the water tender.

Ed made a motion to approve the vouchers; seconded by Kevin. All voted in favor.
