There is a quorum and the agenda was posted on 4-30-13 to comply with the open meeting law.

Ed called for public comment. None offered.

Adam made a motion to approve the minutes; seconded by Kevin. All voted in favor.

Rick Stever reported that he received correspondence advising that the structure engine will be finished Thursday. Rick was notified by dispatch and Ely BLM that there is a wildfire by Cherokee Mine. BLM indicated
there is no access to it; they were hiking in. BLM expects they will be able to handle it. There was a dumpster fire yesterday at Eagle Valley Resort; it was put out by a local individual before the firefighters got there.

Adam made a motion to approve the voucher; seconded by Paul M. Kevin disclosed he is part owner of Mountain Merc and abstained from the vote. Motion carried.

There are projects all around the state to make people aware of wildfire issues and to assist them in cleaning up their lots. Rick has been in touch with the outlying areas in the county and he’s indicated that help is available if the property owners are willing to trim trees and clean up the brush. NDF will chip. Paul M. made a motion to approve the resolution recognizing fire safety week; seconded by Kevin. All voted in favor.

The obligation was sent to the state and it says LC Fire District for a $5,000 funding match. Rick was asked to reaffirm the matching funds. There is some confusion as to how the LCFD got involved in this project. It is believed the original intent was for the county to come up with the $5,000, not LCFD. Paul D. made a motion to reaffirm the payment of $5,000 funding match for the Caliente Youth Center bridge; seconded by Paul M. Paul M. suggested that research be done to see if this can be finagled out of a different fund; he doesn’t see why the fire district is paying this. Paul M. voted in favor to keep this going, but reiterated the need to find the funds elsewhere and get this fixed. All voted in favor.

Ed called for public comment. None offered.

There being no further business for the Board to attend, Ed adjourned the meeting at 10:34 a.m.
