PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF PANACA FIRE DISTRICT TRUSTEES,

IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF LINCOLN, STATE OF NEVADA

October 20, 2008

#1-CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL

The Board met in regular session with Chairwoman Ronda Hornbeck calling the meeting to order at 1:00. Clerk Lisa Lloyd called the roll with Trustees Tommy Rowe, Paul Mathews, Ronda Hornbeck, Wade Poulsen and Bill Lloyd being present. There is a quorum present and the agenda was posted on 10-14-08 to comply with the open meeting law. Harry Birkmier is present as well.

CONSENT AGENDA

#2 Approve/Deny minutes of September 15, 2008 meeting.

Wade made a motion to approve the consent agenda; seconded by Bill. All voted in favor.

#3-DEPARTMENT REPORTS

As of 9-30-08 there is approximately $72,000 in the operating fund, 108. There is an outstanding bill that BLM owes in the approximate amount of $94,000. As of 9-30-08 Fund 108 has $4,636.39 more than this time last year. Seven firefighters were sent to live fire training in Fallon, NV. Two of those are now qualified to run the “Burn Trailer” that is jointly owned by West Wendover and the State Fire Marshall. One firefighter was sent to “Roper Rescue” training in Carlin. He’s now qualified as an instructor. Four personnel graduated from the Firefighter 1 class in January 2008. Three members went to Alamo and participated in the HazMat exercise last month. There will be a responder class, followed by a Firefighter 1 class, the first part of 2009. All of the classes that are put on are open to all fire departments and first responders in the county.Currently, there are 25 members. Harry will be an adjunct instructor for the fire marshall’s office. PFD needs to find some land on the south end of the district. Clint suggested that PFD can get an RP&P or lease for patented land from BLM. Panaca Fire District (PFD) is hosting a retirement dinner for Marge Gunn on 10-23. 10-25 PFD will host the 5th Annual Fire House Chili Cookoff; all proceeds will go to Scott and Marcia Wadsworth. Larson Fire Apparatus Service tested PFD’s structure engine’s pumps; all is well. LN Curtis & Sons serviced the Comp Air compressor that is used to fill the SCBAs. Engine 65 was sent to Ely to be painted by the NDF Honor Camp crew and should be back in Panaca this week. LCSO donated an Explorer, which is now on the road and will soon be striped and numbered. PFD has responded to 24 alarms since January, which include brush fires, wildland fires, vehicle fires, one structure fire and numerous medical assists.

#4-INDEPENDENT AUDITOR

Wade made a motion to appoint Dan McArthur as independent auditor for FY 2007-2008; seconded by Paul. All voted in favor.

#5-CONTRACT WITH DAN MCARTHUR

Wade made a motion to approve the contract with Dan McArthur at the same price as last year (Ronda will sign when contract comes in); seconded by Paul. All voted in favor.

#6-VOUCHERS

Tommy made a motion to approve; seconded by Paul. All voted in favor.

#7-PUBLIC COMMENT

There is no public comment.

#8-ADJOURN

There being no further business for the Board to attend to, Wade made a motion adjourn the meeting at 1:36; seconded by Tommy. All voted in favor.
