PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF PANACA FIRE DISTRICT TRUSTEES,
IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF LINCOLN, STATE OF NEVADA
August 17, 2009
#1-CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
The Board met in regular session with Chairman Paul Mathews calling the meeting to order at 10:44. Clerk Lisa Lloyd called the roll with Trustees Tommy Rowe, Ronda Hornbeck, Paul Mathews, Ed Higbee and Bill Lloyd being present. There is a quorum and the agenda was posted on 8-11-09 to comply with the open meeting law. Fire Chief Kerry Lee and Harry Birkmier are present.
Ronda made a motion to approve the July 20, 2009 minutes; seconded by Ed. All voted in favor.
Harry commented that they responded to a call from BLM on July 17 to aid with the Burnt Fire. Paperwork for the grant/loan from USDA for a new truck has been received; the grant is in the amount of $50,000. Firefighter testing will occur on 8-29. Harry reviewed the specs for two engines they would like to obtain from Fire Trucks Plus. The engines are $50,000 each and a down payment of $10,000 is required. Both of the trucks have a foam system built into them. The burn trailer will be here the week of September 7. Harry reminded the Board that turnouts and equipment are needed for any of those trained in Eagle Valley. Harry commented that he has seen portable tanks that hold 5,000-6,000 gallons of water. City of Caliente purchased a brand new water tender, which is available for emergency use throughout the county.
Harry advised payroll was $4,183. $37,782 is the ending fund balance. Tommy made a motion to approve the vouchers; seconded by Ed. All voted in favor.
