PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF PANACA FIRE DISTRICT TRUSTEES,
IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF LINCOLN, STATE OF NEVADA
September 21, 2009
#1-CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
The Board met in regular session with Chairman Paul Mathews calling the meeting to order at 10:08. Clerk Lisa
Lloyd called the roll with Trustees Ronda Hornbeck, Paul Mathews, Ed Higbee and Bill Lloyd being present.
Trustee Tommy Rowe is absent. There is a quorum and the agenda was posted on 9-10-09 to comply with the
open meeting law. Harry Birkmier is present.
Ed made a motion to approve the August 17, 2009 minutes; seconded by Bill. All voted in favor.
It has been decided by all Chiefs that it is in the best interest of the citizens of the county for fire departments to
respond to ambulance runs. They’ve been doing this and so far it’s been going well. Firefighter I test was given
on 8-29-09. All students passed the practicals but only 2 passed the written. Retesting will take place in
approximately 30 days. The burn trailer from Wendover was at Panaca on August 9th and 10th; it was well worth
it. There have been minor problems with the USDA loan that will be resolved shortly. Documents need to be
reviewed by an attorney and Harry hopes that trucks will be in Panaca by mid October. September 24-16 is the
Lincoln County High School 100th Homecoming Celebration. The northern fire departments will be assisting with
the bonfire, the fireworks and any medical problems that may occur.
Ronda made a motion to approve the vouchers; seconded by Ed. All voted in favor.
