The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is always looking for volunteers to help our older citizens. Volunteer opportunities include:
- Transportation - Transportation would include driving someone to doctors appointments or on local errands. Some funds are available to cover costs incurred.
- Companionship - Provides a home visit to people that live alone, elderly or not. This does not include housekeeping as there is a program for that through Lincoln County Human Services.
- Respite for Caregivers - This program provides a break to someone who is a caregiver to a housebound person. That allows the caregiver time to do errands, go to appointments, or just have some personal time whenever needed.
- Lifeline Installation - This is a program to provide installation of the LifeLine service that provides a signal to a central location when the personal alarm device is activated. Lifeline consists of a personal alarm device and a home station. There are no technical skills needed to install the Lifeline devices.
A background check is required for all people volunteering to assist seniors. Contact June Taylor at the RSVP office in Caliente or call her office at 775-726-3216 or her cell phone at 775-962-1290 for more details about these volunteer opportunities.
